Carla van den Berg

Carla van den Berg is a former Human Kinetics graduate from StFX and currently works as a sports scientist in women’s and youth soccer. She enrolled in the honours program in her fourth year, which sparked her research interest. After graduation, Carla moved to Alberta to pursue an MSc in Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. She also completed a certification as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist and High Performance Specialist through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. She then worked as a knowledge translator with the Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre and as a personal trainer. It was these experiences that sparked her passion for female sport. In 2022 to started her PhD investigating menstrual cycle in elite athletes. This provided her with the opportunity to work with athletes through the national training centers competing in various sports. She aims to help increase female inclusion in sports science research by better understanding athletes’ unique ovarian hormone profiles. Carla then transitioned into the Lead Sports Scientist role with Foothills UWS team and became the youth club's Assistant Head of Sports Science. Carla is currently working with the coaching staff in preparation for the 2024 UWS season in addition to planning for the upcoming Canadian women’s professional league set to launch by Project 8 in 2025.

Cameron Cromwell at Stethoscope Ceremony

Cameron Cromwell completed his BSc in Human Kinetics (Honours) in 2023. He received his stethoscope as part of a milestone ceremony hosted by the Dalhousie President, NS Health Innovation Director, and the Honourable Minister for Advanced Education. Cameron was part of the inaugural group (24 students) selected to complete the newly created Masters of Physician Assistant studies (MPAS) program at Dalhousie University.
