Summer Programs and Short-term Education Abroad Opportunities

Summer Programs  

In addition to one semester and full-year exchanges, StFX also offers summer exchange programming through our partner institutions.

Students interested in applying for a summer exchange program should complete the following application form and submit it to the Education Abroad Advisor by the appropriate deadline below.

Denmark

Partner: University of Southern Denmark (SDU)
Location: Odense, Sonderborg, Kolding
Program of Focus: Business, Engineering, or Political Science

SDU is offering a two week summer program in Odense, Sonderborg, or Kolding from August 3rd - 14th, 2020. This program is taught in English and is targeted towards undergraduate Business, Engineering, or Political Science students. Participation in the program, along with a passing grade, will earn StFX students 3 credits.

France

Location: Paris
Program of Focus: Business

ESSCA is offering a three week summer program in Paris from June 15th to July 9th, 2020. This program is taught in English and is targeted towards undergraduate level Business students. Participation in the program, along with a passing grade, will earn StFX students 3 credits. Students will choose one of the following pairings:

  • PAIRING 1 : International Luxury Brand Marketing & International Business Management
  • PAIRING 2 : Business Intelligence Strategy & Digital Culture, Innovation and New Market

Paris bridges

Partner: ESSCA School of Management
Location: Paris
Program of Focus: French

ESSCA is offering a three week summer program in Paris from June 15th to July 9th, 2020. This program is taught in French and is targeted towards undergraduate level students studying French. Participation in the program, along with a passing grade, will earn StFX students 3 credits. Students will study the following topics: Cultural Awareness in France, French Language & Intercultural Communication.

Location: Angers/Brussels/Paris
Program of Focus: Political Science/Public Policy and Governance

ESSCA also offers a four week summer program in Angers, Brussels, and Paris from June 10th to July 9th, 2020. This program is taught in English and is targeted towards International Relations or PGOV students. Participation in the program, along with a passing grade, will earn StFX students 6 credits. During the course participants will visit three cities over three weeks; Angers, Brussels and Paris. Course topics include European Politics, European Economics, Intercultural Communication, and French culture.

Germany

Location: Munich
Program of Focus: Business

ISM is offering a two week summer program in Munich from July 6th to July 17th, 2020. This program is taught in English and is targeted towards undergraduate Business students. Participation in the program, along with a passing grade, will earn StFX students 3 credits. Students will study Digital Business Transformation; specifically, Design Thinking, Digitalization & Data-Driven Business.

ISM's Summer School for 2020 is divided into two one-week sessions with two included business trips:

  • July 6th – 10th: Design Thinking
  • July 13th – 17th: Digitalization & Data-Driven Business

Netherlands

Location: Nijmegan
Program of Focus: Human Kinetics (Sports Science)

Han University is offering a one, two, or three week summer program in Nijmegan from May 22nd to June 12th, 2020. This program is taught in English and is targeted towards undergraduate Human Kinetics students.

Students may choose to participate in one, two or all three weeks of hands-on learning. Each week includes a field trip. Participation in all three weeks of the program, along with a passing grade, will earn StFX students 3 credits.

Israel Palestine Field School

Location: Israel and the Palestinian Territories

Program of Focus: Political Science

Description: Fault Lines in Israel Palestine (PSCI 364) is a new ten-day three-credit study abroad course that will take place at the immediate end of the winter semester. Students will travel to the Israel and Palestinian Territories with StFX Professor Jamie Levin and learn about the complexities of Israel Palestine relationship by visiting sites of importance and speaking with experts and locals to develop an understanding of the intricacies of one of the modern world’s most enduring conflicts.

Dates: April 25 - May 5, 2023 (to be confirmed to ensure there is no conflict with the final exam schedule).

If this conflicts with one of your other courses, you will not automatically be able to register for the course on Banner.
