Tools & Advice for Registration

First-year biology students normally register in the following courses:

  • 6 credits of Biology: BIOL 111, 112 (Science A)
  • 6 credits of Chemistry: CHEM 101, 102 or CHEM 121, 122 (normally Science B or C). These are recommended prerequisites for BIOL 201, 202, 203, and 205 in second year.
  • 6 credits of Math: MATH 106 or 126, 107 or 127 (Science B or C)
  • Either 12 credits of Arts electives or 6 credits of Arts electives and 6 credits of a third science; see new student registration website for more details on this choice.

Second-year biology students

  • To avoid reduced course selection in third and fourth year due to lack of prerequisites, register for at least four of BIOL 201, 202, 203, 205 and 315. If considering BIOL 315, it is normally taken in third year, after taking CHEM 221 and 255 in second year.
  • If considering the honours program, should also normally register for CHEM 221 and 255 and STAT 231.
  • Should declare degree program (BSc Major, honours, Joint Major, etc.) using the forms available on the Dean of Science website.

Third and fourth-year biology students

  • Your registration will be delayed (and courses may fill up!) if you do not have your program declaration completed
