Human Nutrition Department

Welcome to Human Nutrition at StFX

Welcome to Human Nutrition at St. Francis Xavier University, where science, food, health, and people come together.

Human Nutrition at StFX prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving world of nutrition, health, food, and wellness. Our program provides a strong foundation in human nutrition while allowing students to explore pathways that align with their interests and career goals.

Students can pursue degree concentrations and minors in Dietetics, Health Sciences, Food and Society, a minor in Arts or Science (pre-Education), and second degrees in Human Kinetics and Food Entrepreneurship. Each pathway builds strong scientific knowledge, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, preparing students for success in further education, professional practice, research, and a wide range of careers.

Our faculty are committed to providing a supportive, engaging, and student-centred learning environment, where students benefit from diverse opportunities for classroom and laboratory learning, research, experiential learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

We are dedicated to helping students discover their strengths, pursue their goals, and develop the confidence and skills to succeed—whatever pathway they choose.

Our mission in the Human Nutrition department at StFX is to prepare students to lead confidently, work collaboratively, and contribute meaningfully to a healthy and just society. We invite you to discover our Human Nutrition program and look forward to supporting you on your academic journey!
