Mental health is an essential part of your overall health. At StFX, the Health and Counselling Centre offers confidential, student-focused mental health services. We are here to help you on your university journey.

We are located in Bloomfield 305. Our opening hours are:

  • Monday & Thursday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
  • Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

The costs of all the services of the Health & Counselling Centre are covered by your student fees.

Services include:

  • One At a Time (OAAT) individual sessions;
  • group information sessions and workshops
  • referrals to StFX medical and student services;
  • and referrals to other services in the community.
  • Please note that we do not offer long-term therapy, and we do not offer assessments for learning disabilities or ADHD.

An appointment is a One At a Time (OAAT) session where you meet with a professional for 45-50 minutes to identify your concern, explore ways to help, and refer you to other services if needed.

Book a One At a Time Mental Health Appointment

  • Book a One At a Time appointment online on the Pomelo platform, or in person at the Health & Counselling Centre (Bloomfield 305).
  • Register with Pomelo before booking appointments online.  Please register for Pomelo here.
  • Once you have registered for Pomelo, you can book appointments here.
  • Every weekday, One at a Time (OAAT) mental health appointments open at 7:30 am.
  • Time zone. Check carefully for the time zone indicated in your email reminder. The appointment is Atlantic Daylight Time (ADT) or Atlantic Standard Time (AST); it is NOT the time zone of your home province.
  • For assistance, please call us at 902-867-2263 during office hours.

How to access our services

General information about booking appointments
  • All students must register with Pomelo before they can book their appointments online. Please register for Pomelo here.

  • Your first medical appointment will be with an Nurse. Choose "Medical Intake" from the options. You will meet with a nurse who will complete an assessment and recommend appropriate services. Recommendations may include an appointment with a campus physician, community-based services or online resources.
  • Each weekday morning One at a Time (OAAT) mental health appointments open at 7:30 am.
  • Time zone. You will receive an email reminder for a booked appointment. Please check carefully for the time zone indicated in your reminder. The correct time for your appointment is Nova Scotia time, Atlantic Daylight Time (ADT) or Atlantic Standard Time (AST); it is NOT the time zone of your home province.
  • For assistance, please call us at 902-867-2263 during office hours.
How to cancel an appointment

If you wish to cancel a scheduled appointment, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment with a Nurse or Doctor. Cancelling on time allows us to offer that space to another student who needs it. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours in advance, you will be charged a $50.00 late fee.

Please note that the services you receive at the Health and Counselling Centre are confidential. We do not release information to your parents, your professors or anyone else without your permission or unless legally required to do so.
