StFX Music's Visiting Artist Program is pleased to announce ANDERS BERGCRANTZ in concert with members of the Music faculty.
Anders Bergcrantz is widely regarded as one of the leading voices on the trumpet today. Throughout his distinguished career, he has performed and recorded with an impressive range of internationally acclaimed artists, including Dave Liebman, Billy Harper, Victor Lewis, Billy Hart, Richie Beirach, Monica Zetterlund, Bill Evans, Simon Phillips, Hubert Laws, Adam Nussbaum, Lenny White, Ed Thigpen, Tootie Heath, McCoy Tyner, and Michael Brecker, among many others. He has also appeared as a soloist with ensembles such as the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra at Norrlandsoperan.
Bergcrantz has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. Born into a deeply musical family, he is the son of renowned jazz pianist Sven Bergcrantz (1931-1998), himself a major figure in Scandinavian jazz.
Long celebrated for his remarkable technical command, powerful sound, and wide emotional range, Bergcrantz follows in the tradition of trumpet legends such as Woody Shaw, Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan, and Miles Davis while maintaining a distinctive artistic voice that is uniquely his own. He continues to perform internationally both as a featured guest soloist and with his own ensembles. In addition to his performing career, he is an active clinician and educator, sharing his expertise with musicians around the world.
