The Dahdalehs' contribution followed the largest public investment received by StFX to date – a $37.4 million commitment from the Government of Nova Scotia.
On March 9, 2023, StFX President Dr. Andy Hakin joined with Nova Scotia's Premier, Minister of Health and Wellness, and Minister of Advanced Education to announce the investment at a ceremony held on campus.
The government’s investment supports the construction of Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Hall, a new interdisciplinary facility that will bring together health-related disciplines including Psychology, Health, Human Kinetics, and Nutrition. The building will create a collaborative environment for 75 researchers and their students to advance work focused on improving health and wellness in rural Nova Scotia. It will be home to the Victor and Mona Dahdaleh Institute for Innovation in Health and the National Collaborating Centre for the Determinants of Health at StFX, one of six centres of excellence funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
