Daily drop-in recreation activities and recreation programs are offered in the Keating Centre and Amelia Saputo Centre. Students and community members can reserve a spot for drop in activities by using our self-service portal or register for a program at the Saputo Guest Services. Activities require an activated membership or day pass.
Daily Drop in Activities
Public Skates
Daily member skates at the Keating Centre auxiliary arena. Public Skate is included for StFX students, faculty and staff holding an activated full membership or StFX student membership. Drop in fees are available.
*There are no hockey sticks and hockey pucks permitted on the AUX Ice during the public skate. Having sticks and pucks on the ice during a public skate is a safety risk to the public skaters. Thank you for your understanding!

KEATING CENTRE PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES
- Membership or drop in fee required
- Check in with facility prior to entering the ice surface
- Strollers, chairs and sleds are not permitted on the ice during Public Skates
- Proper attire (skates or tot blades) is required - no other footwear permitted on the ice surface
- Hockey sticks & pucks are not permitted on the ice during Public Skates
- Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied and under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian (19+) for the duration of the Public Skate
- Helmets required for Children age 12 and under; helmets are strongly recommended for all skaters age 13+
Shinny Hockey (stick & puck)
A time for StFX Students to dust off the skates, grab a helmet, stick and gloves and head to the arena for some pick up hockey. Students must register using the self service portal or by visiting/calling Keating Centre Box Office (902-867-3304). Helmets are mandatory!

KEATING CENTRE PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES FOR SHINNY HOCKEY
- StFX students only with activated student membership
- Check in with facility at the Box Office prior to entering the ice surface

- Hockey sticks & pucks are permitted on the ice during shinny hockey
Open Gym/Pickleball/Basketball Shoot Around
Four half-court basketball courts (one net/court) and two main courts are available for use. Court selection is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please check-in at Saputo Guest Services prior to participating in the drop-in session. Equipment will be available - members are encouraged to bring their own basketball/racquets and balls. Current membership or drop in fee required.

Members are asked to leave any personal belongings on the sidelines nearest the hoop of their court OR use one of the Daily lockers located in the Main Change Rooms or hall way by gymnasiums (please bring a lock).

Recreation Community Programs
KC Blades Learn to Skate Program (Children 5+)
A skating program for all levels of skating ability for children ages 5 -12. Creative movement, hockey skills, innovative games, music and fun directed by Charlotte Gallant, a former Disney on Ice Soloist. Children are taught in small groups based on ability and age, assisted by dedicated StFX students. Helmets are mandatory.

Adult Learn to Skate Program
A skating program for all levels of skating ability for Adults ages 16 and up. Learn to skate or develop new skating skills in a relaxed atmosphere. Classes are taught by Charlotte Gallant with the assistance of StFX Students. Enjoy a great evening of exercise and fun! Skates are not provided and Helmets are mandatory.
