Biography

I have been a nurse educator in the Rankin School of Nursing since 1994. I graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 1992 with a BScN and in 2016 with a MAdEd. I coordinate the Simulation Learning Centre and the nursing skills labs. I have taught Health Assessment over the years and supervised/assisted with lab practice in several nursing courses, including freshman introductory skills, pharmacology labs, and physical assessment. I also teach Health Assessment to the Post RN students in the distance program. My research for the MAdEd was in the field of simulation; the title of my study was Simulation as a Learning Methodology in Nursing Education: Exploring Student Learning Using Basic Qualitative Research. I collaborate with School of Nursing faculty and nurse educators in utilizing simulation to support student learning. To assist nursing students in preparing to write their NCLEX exam, I am also the student support person for Evolve HESI resources, providing students with their on-line access codes and scheduling/supervising the writing of practice exams.
