Biography

Anne Marie is an active life-long learner who has just recently graduated with a Master of Education Degree with a concentration in curriculum in nursing/health science.  She believes it is vital for nurses to keep up with current research and best practices and she actively seeks out new learning opportunities for herself.   She has recently completed the continuing education requirements to renew her Canadian Nurses’ Association Specialty Certification in Mental Health Psychiatric Nursing.

Anne Marie has been working in a nurse educator role at StFX since 2004 and although she has done some teaching in the classroom and the Simulation Learning Center, she primarily works with students in clinical and community sites.  Her Nurse Educator role has included teaching and/or facilitating Non-Violent Crisis Intervention workshops, Communication Labs, the clinical component of Community Nursing course, the Clinical component of the Healthy Aging course, Pediatrics, Mental Health, Addictions and Dementia.  While, Anne Marie has clinical experience in a variety of areas within the health care system, she is most passionate about Mental Health, Substance Dependency, Dementia, Social Injustice and Global Health.  Anne Marie works hard to educate others about the adverse health effects that racism, stigma and inequity have on individuals, families and communities. Anne Marie enjoys working with students and is enthusiastic about mentoring future generations of nurses. She is particularly excited to work with the new Nursing Living Learning Community initiative on Campus.
