Bachelor of Science – Advanced Major

Requirements

  • 6 Credits of introductory (101, 102 or 121, 122); 
  • 9 credits of analytical (265, 361, 362); 
  • 6 credits of inorganic (245, 341); 
  • 6 credits of organic (221, 222); 
  • 6 credits of physical (231, 232);
  • 3 credits biochemistry (255); 
  • and 6 credits (i.e. two courses) chemistry electives

Total of 42 chemistry credits, plus the non-credit seminar courses 391 (junior year) and 491 (senior year). 

Advanced Major students are also required to take, in their junior year, Organic Structural Methods (325) as an Approved Elective, and to attend all department seminars during their junior and senior years.

A suggested pattern for the degree of B.Sc. Chemistry (Advanced Major): 
Year 1: CHEM 101, 102 or 121, 122; MATH 106, 107, or 121, 122, or 126, 127; PHYS 101, 102 or 121, 122; 12 credits of arts electives 
Year 2: CHEM 221, 222, 245, 265; 6 credits of math elective; 6 credits of science electives; 6 credits of arts electives 
Year 3: CHEM 231, 232, 325, 361, 362, 391; 15 credits of electives 
Year 4: CHEM 255, 341, 491, 6 credits of chemistry electives from 331, 332, 342, 355, 421, 422, 423, 445, 452, 455; 18 credits of electives
