This is a beginner-to-intermediate level, in-depth workshop for users with no prior experience using Molecular Dynamics tools. However, participants should have some experience working with the command line. Participants will be guided through preparing systems for AMBER and NAMD software and performing simulations of biomolecular systems, VMD for visualizing trajectories and manipulating PDB files, and Python for analyzing and plotting simulation data. The workshop will be conducted in four three-hour hands-on sessions over two weeks.

This event is being hosted by an interdisciplinary team from St. Francis Xavier University representing the Digital Humanities Centre, Library and Aquatics Resources Program to assist those on campus who wish to learn about, refresh their knowledge or enhance their understanding of the capabilities of GIS. This workshop will consist of both lecture and “hands-on” components, providing attendees with the necessary theoretical and practical experience to what GIS is, ArcGIS software and familiarity with the creation of Storymaps. This full-day (9AM-4:30PM) event will consist of 4 sessions that will explain what GIS, the software used, how it can be of benefit to your research and will introduce and guide participants through the creation of storymaps using ArcGIS Pro software.

Dr. Margo C. Watt (Department of Psychology), will be delivering a special talk April 16th @ 1pm at NSCC Kingstec Campus (Kentville, NS) entitled "Two Unlikely Serial Killers". This talk will also be broadcast simultaneously at StFX in Schwartz Room 205 (SCHW 205). Informed by her research and practice as a clinical forensic psychologist, Dr. Watt will discuss two (in)famous Canadian cases of serial murder: Russell Williams and Melissa Shepard.
