You are invited to the 14th Antigonight: Art After Dark Festival! Taking place September 15 & 16 in Nalikitquniejk/Antigonish, the theme this year is Beyond.

Beyond refers to Nalikitquniejk/Antigonish’s location from urban art centres, and the importance of having access to innovative and inspiring art in rural spaces. It also refers to the unknown and asks participants who attend to be curious about what they find at the festival! The following artists and collectives will be featured at Antigonight: ACALA, Brandon Auger, Hearts and Hands/L'Arche, Interstellar Circus Arts, Jan Martin, Marite Kuus & Lauren Runions,  Nat Cann & Caitlin Wilson, Nicole Leroy, Nostos Collectives, and Sydney Hallett & Jean-Michel Cliche. Along with these ten installations and projects, a youth drumming group, Thunder Feather Youth Drumming Group from Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation, will be making music and telling stories. On the first evening of the festival - Friday September 15 from 7pm - 9:00pm - Antigonight welcomes everyone to come to The Grind House (294 Main Street) for an artist and community social to take part in crafting materials and introduce the project of artists Caitlin Wilson & Nat Cann. Our Neighborhood is an ongoing community-oriented workshop where participants will craft their own light-based installation through paper homes. The main festival evening of Saturday September 16 runs from 7pm-10pm.  Due to impending weather Antigonight and other events listed below will be taking place at St Andrew’s Junior High School at 2 Appleseed Drive. Performances, artworks and installations will be set up in unique ways across the school as we navigate this new space. Other events and projects joining us on September 16 are the Art Fair, “Tapestry of Tales” a joint project between ASAP (All-of-us Society for Arts Presentation) and Arts Health Antigonish; Breaking the Silence (BTS) will present the Topacio Reynoso Pacheco Award winner; two mural projects, one a partnership with Arts Health Antigonish, the Town of Antigonish and artist Noella Murphy and one with ASAP and artist Andy Pumphrey.

By hosting several events in tandem, the aim is to showcase the importance of partnerships in rural communities. We are asking folks in the community to spread the word about the festival and invite their friends and family.  Especially since changing the venue to the junior high school. Attached a graphic that can be shared, and below you will find links to the Facebook events and some text for sharing with your own networks.   Please let us know if you have any questions.
