PHISHING ON THE RISE

April 21st.

IT Services has received reports of widespread phishing messages including those with shared files from unknown accounts and those offering fake estate sale items.

Subjects of recent phishing emails have included:

  • Subject: Important Update for Interested St. Francis Xavier University!!

  • Unfamiliar user has shared a SharePoint File (e.g. "St. Francis Xavier University Notice")

While spam filters successfully block many of these attempts, unfortunately, some of these emails get through from time to time.

Please continue to be diligent when reviewing email. If you see a message that seems suspicious or odd, such as messages that prompt you to enter log in credentials, personal or banking information or ask you to send money, report it using Outlook’s Report Message feature. .
