Biography

Carolyn Curry is an accomplished vocalist, pianist and arranger. A teacher, performer and music director in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Carolyn has a Master of Music in Jazz Performance from the University of North Texas, 2011-13. During her time in Texas she was a member of Payawaru, female vocal ensemble, winner of the Dallas Latino Battle of the Bands and receiver of the Student Downbeat Outstanding Performance for vocal ensemble in 2012. She has since performed and recorded with ECMA-nominated funk group Unidentified Funk Object. She also played synth and background vocals in its spin-off project “Dr G Goes to Space!” which was nominated for Nova Scotia Music Week’s Children’s Entertainer of the Year in 2019.

Carolyn's musical adaptation of the Russian fairy tale "Tsarevitch Ivan, The Firebird and The Grey Wolf" was produced by Terra Novella Theatre in 2019 as "Firebird: the Musical," and was nominated for a Merritt Award for Outstanding Score.
