Thursday May 1, 2025 at 7pm, at the Antigonish Heritage Museum, join StFX author Matthew Anderson for the launch of Someone Else's Saint: How a Scottish Pilgrimage led to Nova Scotia (Pottersfield Press April 2025).

Enjoy wonderful music by Mary Beth Carty, a Gaelic blessing by Lewis MacKinnon, and readings by Matthew Anderson from a new book that features two unusual pilgrimages in search of Ninian, the mysterious saint who almost gave StFX its name -- one of them right here in Antigonish.

Matthew is currently Gatto Chair of Christian Studies in the Department of Religious Studies.

The L'nu symbol. L’nu is a word the Mi’kmaq use to describe themselves, meaning “human being” or “the people.”

StFX is located in Mi’kma’ki, the unceded ancestral territory of the Mi'kmaw people. The Mi'kmaw name for Antigonish is Nalikitquniejk, meaning ‘place where branches are torn off.’
