Please join members of the Translocal Learning Network of social movements, social justice organizations and allied academics from Ghana, South Africa, Guatemala, and here for a launch of our book, Rooted in Struggle (Daraja Press, 2026). This book emerges from our Partnership Development Grant collaborations over the last 4 years, and informal collaborations before then. The book was edited collectively, with individual chapters by different movements and organization partners, as well as chapters by research assistants on the project, and allied academics. Each of the partner chapters includes reflections on learning by other partners in the network.
Our book launch will have members of the network present virtually, and in person. In particular, one of our partners, Comité Campesino del Altiplano (CCDA), will be represented in person by Leocadio Juracan - a Guatemalan human and Indigenous rights activist who has faced criminalization for his leadership of CCDA’s work to defend community land rights. He joins us a part of his tour of the Maritimes coordinated by Breaking the Silence.
All are welcome to join us at the Marie Michael Library in Coady International Institute at 1pm, October 22nd. This book launch is supported by the Adult Education Department, The Dean of Education office, and the Development Studies Program. Light refreshments will be served.
