The StFX Art Gallery is pleased to present an in-person artist talk by Murray Gibson on Wed. Sept. 13, 7 pm AT, in the StFX Art Gallery, Mulroney Hall, 2002.
Opening remarks will be provided by Gallery Director/Curator Dr. Andrea Terry.

Artist bio: Master Artisan and member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, Murray Gibson has been weaving tapestries for over 40 years. In 1985, he graduated from the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, AB, and, in 1995, he received his MA, Textiles from Goldsmiths College, University of London, UK, in 1995. He has worked as an instructor in the Art Department at St. Francis Xavier University since 2005. His contributions to the field of contemporary tapestry have been widely recognized. In 2015, Gibson was named a Master Artisan by Craft Nova Scotia, and, in 2019, he was inducted into the Royal Academy of Arts. His tapestries are included in private, corporate, and public collections across North America, such as the Nova Scotia Art Bank and the Canada Council Art Bank, and abroad.
His solo exhibition "Cloth & Consequence," on view till Sat. Sept. 16, showcases Murray Gibson's conceptually rich and technically stunning series of tapestries. Inspired by stories from the past, Gibson explores the interconnectedness of life, death, and textile practice.
