Experiential Learning Advisory Committee

The Experiential Learning Advisory Committee is established to assess and develop a plan to enhance and grow experiential learning at StFX, including proposals for cost recovery models to support enhancements.

The committee will examine how to better support, scale, and sustain experiential learning through modern systems, enhanced infrastructure, and responsive resourcing models. It will recommend structures and strategies that ensure EL continues to be deeply rooted in the StFX tradition of immersive, transformative education.

The Committee's responsibilities include:

  • Comprehensive Review: Assessing current EL offerings – curricular, co-curricular, research-based, and community-led.
  • Identifying Gaps: Recognizing areas of strength, as well as gaps and barriers to equitable access and participation.
  • Evidence-Based Review: Aligning recommendations with StFX pedagogical strengths and strategic priorities, while considering student development and evolving societal needs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with the Teaching and Learning Centre to strengthen the pedagogical grounding of EL and support faculty innovation.
  • Action Plan Development: Reviewing and creating a unifying framework for EL at StFX, ensuring it aligns with institutional values, integrates existing strengths such as Service Learning, and supports future growth.

The Experiential Learning Advisory Committee will support key institutional priorities and advance the academic goal of ensuring students develop strong academic foundations in cross-disciplinary skills and knowledge.
