Accessible Learning

At StFX, we recognize that each student learns differently. We offer an inclusive environment, and many supports to help students with disabilities achieve their educational goals. Our Centre for Accessible Learning is called The Tramble Rooms.

The centre is a work/study space and a drop in centre where students can get help and advice for things like:

  • program planning
  • study skills
  • time management
  • test and exam accommodation
  • note taking
  • tutoring
  • grant applications
  • adaptive technologies such as Kurzweil3000, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Read and Write Gold, Smart Pens and more.

In addition to these supports, our knowledgeable and friendly staff can help guide students as they settle in and become part of the StFX community. We also have student mentors - students with disabilities who are self-advocates and active participants in the StFX community.

Many of the students in our program assume leadership roles in their classes, residences or campus societies, and many have gone on to successful careers in fields like teaching, law, business, social work, fitness, and computer technology.
