Help keep Antigonish safe this summer

As of August 6, 2025, the Province of Nova Scotia has enacted a province-wide burn ban and restricted travel and activities in wooded areas due to drought-like conditions and elevated wildfire risk. In coordination, the Town of Antigonish and the Municipality of the County of Antigonish have introduced voluntary water conservation measures to protect our local water supply.

Whether you're new to Antigonish or returning for another year, it’s important to be aware of these measures and do our part to keep our community safe.

🔥 Fire Safety Measures

  • No open fires – including campfires, brush fires, bonfires, and chimeneas
  • Fines of up to $25,000 may apply for violations

✅ You can still enjoy beaches, playgrounds, and non-wooded park areas.

✅ Charcoal and gas barbecues are permitted (follow manufacturer instructions).

Note that as of 4pm on Friday, August 29, woods restrictions have been lifted for Antigonish County. Read the Government of Nova Scotia release
