Quo Vadis Canada – China Business Relations?

Is this the time for revitalizing and enhancing Canada - China international trade and business relationships? If so, to what extent and on what conditions? What are possible hurdles and barriers and how can they be overcome? What should the Canadian Government do?

What’s in it for me?*

§ 1 Prize: $ 800

The authors of the winning three essays will receive the prize plus an award certificate and will be encouraged to submit their essay to a student conference and/or to the student run peer-reviewed journal Policy+ (interdisciplinary peer-reviewed student journal) published by the Brian Mulroney Institute of Governance at StFX. The winning authors will receive feedback from Schwartz faculty and guidance for their submission to a conference and/or Policy+.

 

What do I need to do?

  • Topic: Essays should address one or all the questions above and a focus is strongly recommended.
  • Requirements: Abstract: 100 – 250 words; Text: 4000 - 5000 words; 12 Times New Roman; double spaced; minimum 10 different peer-reviewed academic references (any common reference/format style may be consistently used for the essay).
  • Authorship: Essays need to be accompanied with a statement that ensures that the essays were written solely by the author (single author), that all used resources (including any visuals) are referenced, and that no generative AI has composed the essay, accompanied with a signature of the author.
  • Deadline: Essays need to be submitted using the following email: ibessay@stfx.ca by May 1st, 2026, 23:59 pm! (Absolutely no late submissions will be considered)
  • Availability: Availability for a promotional photo/video and statement about the essay competition and learning experience related to the essay.
  • Eligibility: All current StFX students (please submit your essay using your official StFX email)!

* NB: For the competition to move to the award stage (disbursement of prizes), a minimum of 10 eligible essays need to be submitted by the deadline. If this requirement is not met the competition will not proceed further. Award decisions by the adjudication committee are final.

IT Infrastructure Maintenance – Tuesday May 12th 5PM – Wednesday May 13th 4AM

IT Services will be completing critical power infrastructure maintenance in the University’s datacenter. This work is necessary to ensure the supportability and reliability of campus IT infrastructure. 

The planned maintenance is scheduled to take place between 5PM Tuesday May 12th and 4AM Wednesday May 13th. During this time there will be a complete outage of all on-campus technology services including but not limited to internet, wired and wireless networks, Banner, X-Reports and MyData. 

The following services will be accessible when connected via cellular data or other off-campus networks, using the provided links.
