Answering three questions about learning physics
Physics is a unique and exciting field of study because it combines fundamental questions about the world with hands-on learning in the lab. But physics also has a long history, and a culture rooted in old and unjust forms of social organization. There is a branch of physics research that aims to provide methodologically reliable answers to educators who want to improve how they teach. In this talk, I will aim to provide answers to three questions: What can students learn in introductory physics labs? What are the impacts of collaboration while learning physics? How can we remedy inequities caused by the culture of physics?
