StFX students, faculty and alumni among 2023 East Coast Music Award nominees

The East Coast Music Association (ECMA) has announced its 2023 East Coast Music Award nominees and several StFX students, faculty and alumni are among the award nominees.

Winners will be announced when the ECMA, celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, is held in the host city of Halifax from May 3-7, 2023. 

Moira & Claire have snagged three nominations: Rising Star Recording of the Year (South Shore); TD Fans' Choice Video of the Year (Delaney's Dad); and Group Recording of the Year ('i'm not usually this forward but...') The duo consists of sisters Moira and Claire MacMullin. Moira graduated from StFX in 2021 with a BA in psychology and a minor in music and is currently doing a master’s degree in music therapy at Concordia University. Claire is in her final year at StFX doing a BSc in earth science with an engineering diploma.
Bingly and the Rogues (with The Villains Theatre) is up for Children’s Entertainer of the Year. The group includes a number of StFX faculty, including Jake Hanlon, Dr. Ranke deVries, Dr. Justin Gregg and Paul Tynan. 

StFX graduate Behrooz Mihankhah, who holds a Bachelor of Music from StFX with a focus on jazz studies, is nominated in the Jazz Recording of the Year category for his work, Lydium.
