Undergraduate Co-op Program

Co-operative Education is the most recognized way for you to graduate with relevant work experience and avoid the no-job-no-experience cycle. With a co-op education, you can make connections with industry, obtain paid, professional work experience, and obtain academic credit.

The 2024-2025 application will be open to undergraduate students in August 2024. Students will be notified by their StFX email when co-op applications open.

Undergraduate Co-op Program Overview

Our undergraduate co-op students complete 12 months of work experience (full time) in appropriate fields of business, industry, government, non-profits, and academic studies. Our co-op students have worked across Canada, and we had a few students who worked internationally. While on work term, students complete required learning assignments and are monitored and evaluated by the Co-op Office and their employer. The assignments help students make connections between academic studies and work.  The monitoring and evaluation will assist the student with learning and understanding of self and the world of work. As with many Co-op Education programs in Canada, co-op students complete various professional development training, work terms, and a final assignment. At StFX, co-op students complete one professional development seminar and 12 months of work experience.

Currently, StFX offers Co-op education in nine different undergraduate programs.
Second or third-year students in the following disciplines have an opportunity to complete co-op:

Bachelor of Business Administration (all majors)
Bachelor of Arts (Computer Science, Math, and Economics)
Bachelor of Science (Biology, Computer Science, Math, Economics, and Earth Science)
Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition
Bachelor of Arts and Science in Health
Bachelor of Arts and Science in Climate & Environment

By joining our program, you are investing in yourself and your future. By the time you are ready to enter the workforce, you are more experienced, more prepared, and more confident.

Note: Second-year students joining the program can complete their degree and co-op within 4-5 years. Students interested in Co-op & degree in 4 years, should speak with an Academic Advisor.
