Library Services for Distance Students, Faculty & Staff

Our Inter-Library Lending department is also responsible for delivering print materials from the StFX collection and other Novanet Libraries to students, staff and faculty who live or work at a distance from the StFX campus.

In all cases, your local library, whether a university, college, hospital or public library, should be your first resource for locating research material in order to put it in your hands as soon as possible. If you do not have access to another library, and/or before you pay for any of their services, please make a request using our Inter-Library lending form.

Requests can also be placed using:

  • The ‘Check for Full Text…’ link in our databases.
  • Choosing "Document Delivery" from the additional options in the Journal list.

In-person borrowing privileges at Novanet member libraries is done via your StFX ID card. Most academic Libraries in the rest of Canada will allow you to borrow their materials by presenting a CAAL card, which can be requested from the Angus L. Macdonald Library. For more information about this program, including participating libraries and to request a card, please go to the CAAL Cards page.

Visit our Need Help webpage for a list of the options available to aid in your search for sources.
