At StFX, you’ll find a thriving and eclectic arts and culture scene. From the rhythm of dance to the rush of live theatre, our campus is alive with creative and artistic endeavours to suit every taste.

 

Examples of arts and culture offerings on and off-campus include:

  • The StFX Art Gallery was established in 1976 to provide a new cultural dimension for Antigonish, its surrounding regions and the university.
  • Theatre Antigonish is a non-profit community theatre under the supervision of professional staff and based in the Bauer Theatre building on the StFX campus.
  • Festival Antigonish is ranked one of the top five summer theatres in Canada.
  • The Antigonish Performing Arts Series brings an extensive list of world-renowned touring artists to Antigonish.
  • For art after dark, Antigonight is a contemporary art festival held each September.
  • The Antigonish Highland Games held each July is the world's oldest continuing Highland Games outside of Scotland.  
  • Live music fans have a number of venues and offerings to choose from throughout the year. 
  • The Antigonish Review is a well-respected literary journal.
