Arctic Operational Histories

This series is a collection of operational histories, generated from firsthand accounts and official government narratives. Reproduced as short e-books, each volume offers a unique window into the evolution of Canada’s northern deployments and capabilities, as well as a detailed look at the challenges faced by the CAF during its multi-generational effort to develop and maintain its operational capabilities in the Arctic.

Whole of Government through an Arctic Lens

This volume is an in-depth examination of Canada’s Whole of Government (WoG) operations in the Arctic. Edited by Canada Research Chair in the Study of the Canadian North (Trent University) P. Whitney Lackenbauer and geographer Heather Nicol (Trent University), it brings together contributions from many of Canada’s academic, defence, and government experts in Northern affairs to explore the history and ongoing challenges Canada faces in building a cooperative  approach to northern safety, security, and defence.
