Scholarships

St. Francis Xavier University offers over $7 Million in merit-­based scholarships and financial aid to its new and current undergraduate students.

New Students

National Entrance Scholarship Program

New students with an admissions average of 85% are eligible for an entrance scholarship worth at least $5,000 over four years of study. The final value of the entrance scholarship awarded will be based on final marks for the five Grade 12 courses used to meet admission requirements for your program. Click here for more information.

Major & Application based Scholarships                

To be eligible for Major and Application based scholarships, you must apply to StFX and submit a first semester Grade 12 transcript by March 1. Scholarship eligibility is based on final marks for the five Grade 12 courses used to meet admission requirements for your program. Please note that final Grade 11 equivalent subject marks may be used in the interim to calculate the average.The Scholarship Applications are both open now and the deadline to submit applications is March 1, 2023.

If a student is eligible for more than one university nominated scholarship, students will receive the largest to which they are entitled.

Current Students

Scholarship Renewal

If you were a recipient of a renewable entrance or major scholarship during your first year, an automatic review of your student records will be completed at the end of each fall/winter academic term, to determine if you have met the renewal criteria.  Unless otherwise started in your official scholarship offer letter, St Francis Universities scholarship renewal terms are as follows:

Students must be enrolled in at least 24 credits in the fall/winter terms combined, with a minimum overall average of 80% at StFX to maintain scholarship offer. Any new, incoming undergraduate students who do not meet the renewal terms stated above will have the opportunity to regain their entrance or major scholarship, in their second year of study only. Second year students who improve their overall average to 80% or higher will regain their scholarship for subsequent years of study provided they maintain that same minimum average of 80%.

In Course Scholarships

In-­course scholarships are awarded to students who have completed at least one academic year of 24 credits in the fall and winter terms combined towards a first degree. They are awarded on the basis of academic performance at StFX University. A minimum average of 80% is required.

  • Students eligible for more than one university funded scholarship (in course or renewable scholarship) will receive the largest to which the student is entitled.
  • There is no application required for scholarship renewals and in course scholarships at the end of each Academic Year (Fall/Winter).
  • Students with an average of 80% or higher based on 24 credits completed in the Fall/Winter terms will qualify for $1,000.
  • The top 5% of eligible students will qualify for $2,000. 
  • Students ranked first in each group will qualify for $5,000.
  • Students are grouped by year of study and degree program
    • Group A: B.A., B.A.Sc., and B.A.Music
    • Group B: B.B.A.
    • Group C: B.Sc. and Dip. Eng.
    • Group D B.Sc.N., B.Sc.H.N. B.A.H.K. and B.Sc. H.K
