Learning to lead at StFX

The Frank McKenna Centre for Leadership is a resource for StFX students in all disciplines, in all years and from all places. The Centre’s mission is to help you discover and develop leadership, to dream big, to make a positive difference in the world, and to learn to work with others to make things happen.

Our goal is to graduate students who are courageous, confident, effective, innovative and ethical. Through the centre’s programs you will have opportunity to:

  • Directly experience and exercise your leadership
  • Meet and learn from a variety of inspiring leaders
  • Participate in stimulating programming which helps you learn and grow.

Your opportunity to grow as a leader

The Frank McKenna Centre for Leadership is dedicated to helping StFX students succeed and thrive in a world of rapid and dynamic change. To accomplish this goal and support you as you grow as a leader, the Centre undertakes a number of initiatives:

    THE LEADERS SUMMIT@X

Every year the McKenna Centre collaborates with faculty, staff and student leaders to host a highly valued Leaders Summit. The weekend combines keynote speakers, leadership workshops, and hand- on “leaders in action” sessions.

    XAVERIAN LEADERS Certificate

This innovative leadership certificate program for first year students is designed to enable new students to develop leadership capacity from the outset. The program helps you maximize the benefit of your undergraduate experience and equips you with the knowledge, skills and motivation to contribute to campus life and to the greater community. The Xaverian Leaders program incorporates the Great Traits of Achievers, Leaders and Legacy Leavers developed by Mark Tewksbury and Debbie Muir. A special agreement with the Great Traits team is in place.
