Enactus StFX has earned a second runner-up finish at the Enactus Canada Regional Exposition in Halifax this month for their entrepreneurial efforts running X-DENN, an on-campus consignment shop where students can buy and sell a wide variety of products.

Enactus StFX team members were in Halifax March 16-17, joining Enactus students from across Atlantic Canada who presented in four team-based competitions (financial education, environmental sustainability, youth empowerment and entrepreneurship).

“We're super pleased to be a recognized school,” says third year honours entrepreneurship student Hannah Chisholm, co-president of Enactus StFX with Maura Brennan, a fourth year nutrition student.

“StFX is very small in comparison to other competing schools so our resources are very limited. X-DENN is one of our favorite projects so we're glad Enactus judges saw the value in our initiative. All of our participating members are new to Enactus and will be returning next year so they are very excited for the next academic year.”

X-DENN, located in Bloomfield Centre, sells used items ranging from mini-fridges to décor to clothing. The shop allows students to both buy items at consignment rates and to make money selling their goods. Enactus StFX only keeps 20 per cent of sales to pay for a student coordinator to run the shop.

Ms. Chisholm says with their second runner-up placing, the team has the option of competing in the national competition to be held in Vancouver in May.

Enactus is Canada’s largest experiential learning platform for post-secondary students focused on improving people’s lives through entrepreneurial action.
