Research teams are organizational structures and a site for networked praxis. In this session, Dr. Mah will share practical examples of tools and strategies used by the lab to implement a skill development curriculum based on an academic year in a digital work environment. This session uses theory from public administration and the practice turn in social research as a foundation.

Speaker

Dr. Catherine Mah, MD, FRCPC, Ph.D., Dalhousie University
Dr. Mah is Canada Research Chair in Promoting Healthy Populations and an Associate Professor in the School of Health Administration at Dalhousie University. She also holds appointments with the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto and Saint Mary’s University. Dr. Mah directs the Food Policy Lab, a multidisciplinary program of research on the environmental and policy determinants of diet and consumption. Dr. Mah is an expert appointee to Canada’s federal Nutrition Science Advisory Committee reporting to Health Canada, and member of the inaugural Canadian Food Policy Advisory Council reporting to the federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-food. Dr. Mah promotes community governance of and practitioner leadership in food systems and nutrition. In 2021, trainees in the lab held collectively 14 provincial doctoral research scholarships and two CIHR (doctoral and postdoctoral) awards.
