“That spirit of religious love in which

I walked with Nature”:

William Wordsworth and the Romantic Poets

Dr. Suzanne Stewart, a member of the Department of English and the Catholic Studies Program, has long been fascinated with nature, rural life, and the changing seasons, as were the Romantic poets. In this lecture, Dr. Stewart will discuss William Wordsworth’s contemplation of nature and his literary influence at the turn of the nineteenth century.

Dr. Stewart will also be available to sign her award-winning book, The Tides of Times, which chronicles the seasonal year in northeastern Nova Scotia with stories of rural labourers and their monthly harvests, poetic echoes that she traces in their work, and evocative natural description.
