About the presentation:
As climate change continues to alter the physical environment of the Arctic and Antarctic, the risk of natural and human-made disasters increases. The vast distances involved, the tough operating conditions, and the limited state resources in the polar regions amplify the risks posed by disasters. This presentation will explore how disasters have unfolded in the Arctic and Antarctic, lessons learned from past crises, and what the future of disaster management might look like in both regions.

Coffee, tea, and sweets will be provided. Registration is not required but always appreciated (tdelorey@stfx.ca). The Learning Lecture series is organized by StFX Continuing and Distance Education and supported by the Berngengren branch of the East Coast Credit Union.
