Gaelic Vignettes in Antigonish County

May is Gaelic Awareness Month in Nova Scotia since it was established in 1996. To celebrate Gaelic Awareness month the Antigonish Highland Society will be presenting Gaelic Vignettes in Antigonish County. Lewis MacKinnon, executive director of the Office of Gaelic Affairs will be sharing Gaelic Vignettes about Antigonish County. The event will take place May 17th, from 7pm-8pm at the Antigonish Heritage Museum. For more information please contact the Antigonish Gaelic Affairs Office or the Antigonish Highland Society.

Adult Learn-To-Swim Lessons

The goal is to provide adults with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in swimming and water safety in an enjoyable environment. Whether you are a beginner who wants to gain confidence in the water or you can swim but would like to improve your stroke this program will benefit you. Our instructors are experienced at all levels.

Start Date May 20, 2012 • Registration Deadline May 18, 2012
Class Time Sunday at 4:00 pm • 1 hour per week for 8 weeks (no class July 1, 2012)
Cost $65/particpant

Introduction to Sea Kayaking

Join Dr. Scott Cunnngham, a biologist and master sea kayaker, along with the experienced guides at Coastal Adventures for a day exploring Nova Scotia's eastern shore by kayak. Coastal Adventures has been in operation for more than three decades and they are the finest sea kayaking expedition company on Canada's east coast. You will leave StFX on Saturday morning and travel via motor coach to Tangier where you will receive great instruction, high quality equipment, and great food as you spend a day on the water in some of the most beautiful scenery on the east coast. This trip was a massive hit when we offered it in 2010 and we are very excited to offer it again in 2012.
