Procedure for the December 3rd ceremony

The X-ring ceremony begins 2:00 p.m. at the Keating Millennium Center on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011. It is a formal affair so please maintain decorum for the ceremony. Business formal attire is appropriate dress. Students should note the processional walk is a fair distance, so appropriate footwear is suggested.

Note: The procession will begin at 1:45 p.m. Doors will open for Line-up at 1:15 pm at the track around the practice arena (Aux Rink) and the Oland Center Aux Gym. Refer to signs in the Keating Centre foyer area to verify which line up area corresponds to your XRing number. It is very important that all participants be in the correct line up area prior to 1:45 pm. This is to ensure that everyone is in the correct order so that each participant receives their own ring.

Gowns will be available at the Alumni Lounge located on the fourth floor of Bloomfield Center. Bring your ID Card (other picture ID may be acceptable). Pick up and return times are as follows (there will be line-ups so expect delays, dates and times are subject to change):

  • Wednesday, November 30, 12:00 – 7:00
  • Thursday, December 1st, 9:00 – 7:00
  • Friday, December 2nd, 9:00 – 7:00
  • Saturday, December 3rd, 10:00 – 4:00
  • Sunday, December 4th, 10:00 – 3:00
  • Monday, December 5th, 9:00 – 4:00

Gowns will be available for pick-up before the Line-up procedure begins (if you are only arriving on campus on the day of the ceremony, allow extra time to pick up your gown)

Gowns not returned to Alumni Lounge prior to Dec. 5th should be taken to the Campus Store, 1st Floor Bloomfield. Note: You must present your student ID to obtain regalia (other picture ID may be acceptable). All regalia for the X-Ring ceremony must be returned by closing on Monday, December 5th, 2011, or a late charge of $7 per day/per item will be assessed to your student account. Late returns are to be taken to the StFX Campus Store. Late charges will accumulate beginning Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Full replacement cost of regalia will be applied to student’s accounts for all regalia not returned by closing Friday, December 9, 2011.

 
 
For Parents & Guests:
  • Parents, other relatives, friends and guests will not be permitted to attend the ceremony in the same venue as the students. Alternatively, they may watch the ceremony on the big screen by live video feed from the Oland Center Main Gym. Doors will open at 1:00 pm, this area is general seating and reserved seating is not available. Tickets are not required for this area.
  • Please note parking at the Keating Millennium Centre is limited and additional parking is located in the Lower Bloomfield Centre parking lot.
  • December 3 can be a cold, wet day, so please dress accordingly. Remember to return to the Auxiliary Gym or the Auxiliary Arena to retrieve your belongings by taking a side entrance. Do not try to double back while the procession is still filing outside. We have experienced serious gridlock in past years when parents and students clog the hallways and do not follow traffic directives from security.
