1. How do I apply?
You can apply online or you can print off a hard copy of the application and mail it to the Admissions office.
2. Is there an application deadline?
We don’t have an official deadline for admissions however some programs fill up faster than others so we encourage you to apply early.
3. What do I need to apply?
We require that you submit an application form along with your transcript.
4. Does my transcript need to be official?
Yes, your transcript must be official. It can be mailed directly from your school or you can send a copy as long as it is in a sealed envelope.
5. How long does it take to find out if I am accepted?
Once we receive your application and transcript, an admission decision will be make within two weeks.
6. How do I find out I’m accepted? (letter, email etc)
You will receive a letter in the mail with your admission decision.
7. What are the requirements for each program?
The requirements for each program can be found on the admissions requirements page.
8. Do I need references?
Reference letters are not required for admissions however we do require them for scholarship consideration.
9. What is the advantage of applying early?
By applying early, you have the advantage of knowing your admissions decision within two weeks of applying and you also have the advantage of starting the residence process.
10. What average do I need to apply?
The minimum average to apply for any program is 70% in the five program requirements with a mark no less than 65% in each course.
11. How do I apply for scholarships?
As long as you apply to the university before March 1st , submit your reference letters and your first term grade 12 marks, you will be considered for all our scholarships.
12. What average do I need for scholarships?
The average required to be considered for our scholarships is an 85% in your first term grade 12 marks.
13. What courses do you use for scholarships?
We use the program requirement courses for scholarships (see question #7)
14. Can I get credit for AP courses? For IB courses? If so, how many can I receive?
We award advanced standing for students who have submitted their official AP results with a score of 3, 4 or 5. We award up to 18 transfer credits to students who have completed the IB diploma with a total score of 24 points or higher with individual scores in HL courses of 5, 6, or 7.
15. Is there a separate application for International students? For transfer students?
No, there is not a separate application for International students or transfer students.
16. Are some programs harder to get into than others?
Yes, some of our programs are limited enrollment and are our most popular so we may require a higher average for admissions.
17. How do I apply for residence?
If you are applying to StFX for the first time, there is no separate application for residence. When you apply to the university, you are also applying for residence.
If you are already a StFX student, you must fill out the Residence Application Form.
