We are pleased to announce Interviewing for the Next Step; a partnership between the StFX Alumni Affairs Office, the Student Career Centre, and biology faculty member, Dr. Edwin DeMont. Financial support for this learning experience was provided by a grant from the StFX Academic Ideas Fund.
Interviewing for the Next Step recognizes that students must be adept at describing what they learned in their academic programs to be successful in professional school interviews, connects students with alumni who can offer feedback through a mock interview format.
This new learning experience will help students prepare for admission to post-graduate programs
Interviewing for the Next Step will provide students with the opportunity to video a 15 minute interview where they answer discipline specific interview questions. Each taped interview will be provided to one to three alumni/referees, professionals who work in the student’s chosen field.
Alumni referees will provide feedback, which may be anonymous to the students.
We are looking for professionals working in various areas to act as referees. The time commitment is 45-60 minutes per student and will include reviewing the video, answering evaluation questions, and providing other feedback.
If you are willing to act as a referee and continue to provide advice, guidance, expertise and knowledge to students, please contact Jane MacDonald, Manager, Student Career Centre at firstname.lastname@example.org or complete the following form.
Helping our students succeed is a priority for the StFX Alumni Office. Please consider this opportunity to make a difference in the life of a student and stay in touch with the pulse of the campus.
