Earth Sciences professor featured in Discovery News

“The interview I gave them was the result of a session I chaired at the American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting last month in San Francisco, on geothermal energy,” says Dr. Ferguson, whose expertise focuses on hydrogeology and geothermal energy.

“Dr. Martin Saar and his Ph.D. student presented this work on CO2 sequestration and geothermal energy in that session I chaired along with Peter Bayer from ETH Zurich.

“There were also several other noteworthy presentations in this session including some work from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) on the large scale potential for geothermal energy in the U.S., environmental impacts of geothermal energy relative to other energy sources and new geothermal energy prospecting techniques.”
