On behalf of StFX President, Dr. Sean Riley, Academic Vice-President and Provost Dr. Mary McGillivray is pleased to announce that the University Librarian, Ms. Lynne Murphy, has agreed to a three-year renewable reappointment at StFX. Lynne Murphy has been the University Librarian since July 2004.

St. Francis Xavier University has submitted a bid proposal to Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) to host the 2012 CIS Women’s Rugby Championship. CIS announced bid proposals today from 18 different universities to host 22 national championships over the next five years in various sports

Congratulations to 2010 honours psychology graduate Joey Dignam of Miramichi, NB, who took top honours at the 34th Annual APICS Psychology Conference, hosted by StFX from May 5-6. Joey took the top honours for his talk entitled: Community responses to Breastfeeding: An Objective Study.

Five of Canada’s top writers will be on hand to lead the 2010 Great Blue Heron Writing Workshop at St. Francis Xavier University. Now in its sixth year, the workshop which takes place on campus June 29-July 4, will feature award-winning writers Sue Goyette, Lorri Neilsen Glenn, Daniel MacIvor, Linda Little and Beth Powning who will teach sessions in poetry, youth writing, playwriting, fiction and memoir.

Modern languages professor Dr. Réjeanne LeBlanc has a very interesting academic year lined up. Starting in October she will be in Angers, France, on what may be StFX’s first ever professor exchange, to teach at Université Catholique de l’Ouest (UCO).

Dr. John Edwards has reason to celebrate. The internationally recognized author and StFX psychology professor has seen four long-term writing projects come to fruition. He’s received invitations to present at several international conferences, and his plate is full with more book projects in the works.
