"The Irish Language in Eastern Canada, 1700-1900 OR is fánach an áit a bhfaighe tú gliomach"The public is invited to attend a lecture by Dr. Ken Nilsen of the Department of Celtic Studies at StFX University. The lecture will take place on Friday, March 19, 2010 in Nicholson Hall 16, 2nd floor at 3 pm. The paper will look at the evidence that exists for the presence of the Irish language in Eastern Canada. Although undoubtedly thousands of native Irish speakers immigrated to Canada in the period 1700-1900 they have left very few traces of their language.
