StFX offers over $2 million annually in merit-based scholarships and financial aid to its new and current undergraduates.

You should know:

  • students with an average of 85%* are automatically guaranteed an entrance scholarship worth at least $3,500
  • THE SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE IS MARCH 1st unless otherwise stated, so don’t delay.
  • Students must submit a completed application for admission to the university along with a first term/semester grade 12 transcript and supporting documents where necessary before the March 1st deadline to be considered for any scholarship listed below. No separate application is required unless specified. 
  • Scholarship averages are based on the 5 course requirements for each individual program. Please refer to the Admissions Requirements page for more details.

  National Entrance Scholarship Program

  $3,500 Entrance Scholarship
Eligibility: 85.0%-89.9% average*


Guaranteed to all applicants with an average of 85%
or higher, based on Grade 12 December exams or first
semester Grade 12 marks. Renewable for four years
at $500 for the first year and $1,000 per year for three
additional years.
$4,000 Entrance Scholarship
Eligibility: 90.0%-93.9% average*
Guaranteed to all applicants with an average of 90%
or higher, based on Grade 12 December exams or first
semester Grade 12 marks. Renewable for four years at
$1,000 per year.
  $12,000 Merit Scholarship
Eligibility: 94.0% and higher*
For outstanding students across all programs in Arts,
Science, and the Gerald Schwartz School of Business and
Information Systems. Based on academic achievement.
Renewable for four years at $3,000 per year.

$32,000 President’s Scholarships Recognizing those students who have achieved
outstanding academic success. Renewable for four
years at $8,000 per year. All students enrolling directly
from high school who demonstrate the qualities and
values honoured by StFX – notably leadership and
dedication in service to others as well as academic
achievement – are eligible.
$24,000 Canadian Scholarships Awarded based on academic achievement and the
student’s province of origin. Renewable for four years
at $6,000 per year.
$24,000 Phillip W. Oland and J.P. McCarthy Scholarships Awarded based on a nomination from
the applicant’s high school as well as an interview
process. Renewable for four years at $6,000 per
year. Applicants must have a demonstrated history

$16,000 Harrison McCain Scholarship Awarded to any high school student in Canada,
with a recognized initiative to funding their own education,

$16,000 Harrison McCain Scholarship Awarded to any high school student in Canada,
with a recognized initiative to funding their own education,

Paul Wacko Memorial Scholarship Award  For students from Northern Alberta who plan
to attend St. Francis Xavier University full time.
Preference will be given to graduates from Edmonton.
Scholarship Awards of up to $1,500 will be granted
and renewable for up to three additional years, if the
candidate completes 30 credits per year with a 70%
or higher average and is approved by the committee.

Full Tuition (2 years) Barry O’Leary Leadership Award For students from Ottawa, Gloucester, Nepean and Kanata who demonstrate financial need and who wish to enroll in any Faculty. $7,500 Chadwick-Hayes Scholarship James Chadwick and Julia (Hayes) Chadwick graduated from St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) in 1959 and 1960 respectively. Their time at StFX shaped their personal and professional lives and how they contributed to their community. This award is meant to reflect the opportunity that was given to them by the University and the Xaverian community.

High school students in western Quebec and eastern Ontario are eligible(North Bay and all points east; southeast to Belleville and all points northeast).

This award is based on academic achievement, community involvement, involvement in extracurricular activities and personal attributes.

Full Tuition (3 years) Daniel Cordeau Scholarship For students from Cape Breton entering a full-time
undergraduate Bachelor or Arts program. Full tuition,
renewable for three years if student maintains a
minimum average. Preference given to students
active in their Catholic parish. Financial need may be
taken into consideration.
